That is a bog-standard Ford Focus with the super-fancy lisence plate surveillance system strapped to the back of it.

The bigger question is: why? That’s not even a cop car because all Gov’t cars registered in Florida have bright yellow plates. Could this be related to that Suburban found in Philadelphia with Google maps on the side of it that the Police investigated? Many questions, few answers.

Its for tow truck companies. This car trolls the parking lot looking for expired tags or some other towable offense, when they get a hit, the tow company that has the agreement with the lot owner tows the car away.

Here in Madison, WI the cops use a similar system for parking enforcement , although it’s more aggressively marked.

That’s a pretty good looking system they’ve got, four cameras won’t miss anything. The one I use for work only has two, and I’d estimate it misses 30-40% of all cars I drive past.

I'd guess that's a repo setup though, since the cameras are pointed almost straight out the side you know they're using it to look in driveways.

One of my coworker’s brother has a repo company and he has a Civic that he bought after he repoed it. Its crap, but it works and a lot cheaper than running the tow truck all day.
